Greensharks Hockey club are plotting to take down Strathmore University (Gladiators) when the two sides meet in the men’s hockey Premier League.

Sharks are yet to register a win in the 2013 season drawing in all their three opening rounds of fixtures against champions Nairobi Simba, Wazalendo and Mombasa Sports Club.

In the first and third match they were the better side and deserved to walk away with maximum points. Against Simba they were leading 3-1 going to the last minutes only for the champions to score late goals to deny them a surprise victory.

Facing Wazalendo, Sharks needed a late equalizer as the match ended 1-1. In their last match against MSC their former keeper single handedly denied the Ruaraka based side victory in a match they dominated from the first whistle to the end.

Club captain Tony Nyikuri described their next game against the students as a must win. Strathmore has played one match so far.

“We are basically tired of drawing without making our possession in the final third count. Had we made our chances count we could have be leading the table standings by now.” He offered

“I can’t blame my teammates especially in the last game against MSC the players gave their all only for the custodian to stand tall. However against Strathmore we want to kill the game early and bag three points.” He added.

Both teams are on three points however sharks have played two more matches.
