USIU warming up before their match against Orange

United States International University Hockey captain Pauline Naise says her team will bounce back from their humiliating 7-0 lose to reigning national hockey champions Telkom Orange on Sunday morning. The Thika road based students held the champions nicely in the first half with the first goal of the match coming late in the first period. The defense was however to crumble as they shipped in six more goals in the second half.

With the season beginning, the captain admitted they have a tough task ahead as they rebuild the squad which has welcomed new players.

“We are coming back from our holiday leading to a bad show today with most of the departments not coordinating well. We need to start playing and adapting to new styles.” Said the captain.

Naise said the changes at the back have not done the team well since most players are yet to adapt to their new roles.

“Apart from players being new in the team I believe we have to have versatility in that we are able to play in different position apart from our normal positions. We shall be working hard in the few weeks to stabilize the team.”  She said.

Naise has warned clubs not to rule out her side noting that they will come good and challenge for podium finish in the new season.
