Pwani derby ends in stalemate, UoN sweatless as Kabarak chicken out

The eagerly awaited ‘Pwani derby’ match pitting Mombasa Sports Club and Mvita XI failed to live to its expectation as the two teams settled for a disappointing barren draw. After 70 minute of play Mvita team manager Gabriel Olang’ was left fuming following the numerous chances his players failed to put behind the net.

“We played disappointingly bad and I did not expect us to put up such a performance. Whether it was because it was our first match of the season or not, we ought to have done better than that,” Olang’ told Michezoafrika.com.

At the City park artificial turf in Nairobi, University of Nairobi earned three points and five goals without breaking a sweat after their opponents Kabarak University failed to show up for the match. UON captain Dennis Aganyo was unhappy with the three gifted points since he said his team was hungry for action and earn points on the pitch.

“We don’t know the reasons they gave for honoring the match but we had trained so well for this game and were ready to earn the points on the turf. We now turn our attention to the next match,” he told Michezoafrika.com.

In Kisumu, it was another disappointing day as the match between Kisumu Simba and Western Jaguars was called off on the 11th hour.
