National team training leads to suspension of matches

For the second week running, the Kenya Hockey Union national league will be suspended as the national team is given priority ahead of the September Africa cup of nation’s tournament to be held in Nairobi.

Last week all the three leagues, Men premier, men national and women national were suspended majorly due to the unavailability of the grounds and the union national elections which went down over the weekend.

Newly re-elected fixtures and matches secretary Jane Nyamongo has affirmed that the national team will be using the stadium for training therefore becoming hard to have league matches.

“There will not be any league matches for the coming weekend. We have given the national team enough time to train over the weekend. We might resume from next week.” she confirmed.

Former champions Kenya Police are leading the men premier league standings with 15 points, Nakuru club lead the men national league with similar points while Telkom Orange are leading the women national league.
