Nakuru Club

Two games five goals and six points summed up Nakuru Club’s weekend visit to Nairobi as the team made their intentions known with only two rounds of matches played.

Captain Jimmy Carter speaking to after the weekend harvest rubber stamped the team’s desire to play in the top flight putting into perspective that they aim at maintaining a clean record throughout their national league campaign.

“We banked on experience to win our opening rounds of matches. We have not played Homabay before but we expected a quick and high tempo match since most of the players are young and run more. After they tired we were able to penetrate and get the ball behind their back four which resulted in a comfortable win.” Noted the captain.

“My team mates are determined to eliminate last season’s mistakes where we finished third overall on goal difference with second placed Parklands and a point adrift of champions Parkroad. That shows how tough the league was. Our plan for the season is to win clean without gambling.” A confident Carter told

While most teams in the lower tier and even some in the top flight might be experiencing player shortage that has not been the case for the Nakuru based side.

The captain spoke of how hard it was to come up with the first 16 from the 30 plus registered members.

“We have depth in our squad as a matter of fact coming up with the first 16 is some big headache. The team I left behind is equally awesome, they can easily beat the said first team.” jokes the natural defender.

The club raided Kenya School of Accountancy KCA for the services of midfielder Jacob Githinji  and attacking midfielder Kiprotich from the University of Nairobi.

“Our squad is incredible and passionate comprising of 80% young lads mixing well with the experienced lads. The young players the club is mentoring are also responding well.” He concluded.
