Four points in two away matches was what Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) achieved when they travelled down to the capital over the weekend.

The points lifted them to second in the league standings with five points behind new league leaders Kenya Police who assumed leadership after defeating Western Jaguars on Sunday morning.

MSC started the campaign with a rather demoralizing barren draw with local rivals Mvita last week. Against Jaguars on Saturday they registered their first win before drawing with Greensharks in their final match of the weekend.

Club captain George Olang admitted that the results was least expected since they were facing tactically difficult sides where winning is never guaranteed.

“Morale in the team is high having come and managed four points out of a possible six. Playing away from home is never easy. We had to change tactics and defended more especially against Sharks who were attack minded. Playing in such a tough match and managing a point is something special.” the captain said.

Olang’s aspiration same as that of his team mates is to see the Mombasa based side have a good run to finish in the top half of the league.

“We need to put together positive results which will make our dream a reality. The players are willing to work harder to see the club improve from last season’s performance.” He concluded.
