Moi and Laverna take Pools control in Schools’ hockey

Moi girls Nairobi have taken control of pool A with 13 points while Mount Laverna Girls are the top of pool B with 11 points as the Nairobi Secondary Schools Sports Association NSSSA girls’ hockey league entered the third week.

Moi girls opened the gap in pool A after thrashing Parklands Arya 7-0 to take their points to 13 with Merlene Sirima  scoring 4 Jessica Kabura bagging a brace  and Sella Makotsi getting 1 past a helpless Arya side who are bottom of the pool with just 3 points.

Debutant Rusinga are in third position with 6 points having defeated 4th  placed Kianda 2-0 with Halima Murunga scoring both goals. Precious Blood, a former powerhouse in girls hockey despite a win over Rusinga still lie 5th with 4 points.

Three goals from Naomi Wachuka and 1 from Georgia Lumumba cemented Mt. Laverna’s first position ahead of Pangani who are a point behind with 10 points.pangani easily beat State House Girls 3-0 with a brace from Tanya Buyu and Linda Kapkea with 1 but went on to lose  2-1 to leaders Mt. Laverna where Winnie Bahati scored a brace while Tanya score a consolation for the Pangani girls.

Kenya high lie in third position with 10 points. This is after a solitary goal by Rajab Maimuna secured a win against St Georges who lie in fourth with 5 points. Earlier in the day, Kenya high had been awarded a walkover against Buruburu who failed to turn up.

Former champions State house girls are in last position without a point in week three, they are the punching bags after they were whipped 4-0 by St Georges’ in week two and Buruburu and Pangani in week three.
