MKU sheds off 'whipping girls' tag

Women national league new girls on the block Mount Kenya University have vowed to improve on their form as the league progresses.

MKU have suffered embarrassing score lines of 21-0 to Strathmore University ‘Scorpions’  in the first week before improving to settle for a 5-0 defeat at the hand of Sliders.  Many have compared the students to be of competition to Multimedia University who for two seasons have been regarded as the whipping girls in the 9 team league.

Speaking to Club captain Caroline Wanjiku has refuted such claims saying the team will come good as the league matures.

 “What the ladies and the team is suffering from is lack of motivation, lack of confidence and inexperience. Those are areas we are determined to work on especially in the first leg of the season.” Noted the captain

“Being first timers in the national league, we have not gathered much experience. We have however enjoyed taking part in the league .so far we have participated in only two games of which we have improved and planning to do much better as time goes by.” She added.

 The Thika based outfit surprisingly finished third in the KUSA league behind winners Scorpions and Kenyatta University an aspect the captain says the team will have to work on their finishing prowess to compete fairly.

“Our main undoing is positioning and finishing. I believe by the time we shall be holding our fifth match we shall be ready and learnt a lot.” Said the defender turned forward.
