Four months after the Kenya hockey league kicked off, Mombasa sports club turned up with a lackluster performance shipping home 18 goals against visitors Telkom Orange in a national women league played at in Mombasa over the weekend.

 The team’s participation in the 2013 women league has been in the line for the last four months with speculations that they had opted out due to financial constraints.  Michezoafrika.com run a story on the possibility of the team having pulled out of the league claims that were neither denied nor approved by Kenya hockey Union nor the club’s officials.

 With the classic win, the defending league champions Orange moved to 24  points on the log having won all their opening 8 rounds of matches in the women national league. They next play Strathmore University in the only remaining first leg fixture.

Forward Jacky Jow said the Mombasa sports club match was enjoyable with players scoring at will.

 “We played  and did enjoy the match, maybe MSC was weak but we did enjoy the match. we are looking forward to Africa Cup club championships at the end of the year and winning the league.”Said the national team player.
