Kisumu Simba docked points for Nairobi to finish second

Kenya Police national champions

Just when all seemed to have ended in Kisumu Simba’s favor at the conclusion of league action last weekend, a different plot emerged  on the trophy presentation day when it was announced that immediate former champions Nairobi Simba  were runners up finishing the season behind champions Kenya Police.

Kisumu defeated Kenya Police 1-0 in their final match at the City Park to go joint top of the league table with the champions on 28 points though Police had a superior goal difference.

According to the Kenya Hockey Union Officials, Kisumu Simba fielded an ineligible player during their league match against Mvita and after Nairobi Simba filed an official protest, an investigation revealed that indeed the said payer had accumulated yellow cards and was not eligible to play.

Kisumu were therefore docked three points finishing the season on 25 points same as Nairobi Simba who had a superior goal aggregate.
