Upcoming Kenyan midfielder Paul "Zizou" Thiong'o is thrilled to have been Empoli Youth's DNA as his side beat Sampdoria 3-1 in the National Youth Series A and B competition on Sunday.
A brace by Cacciapuoti and another goal by Frugoli enabled Empoli move a position up to third in the league standings.
Christened "Empoli engine" by Italian press, the rising star provided a stable platform which allowed strikers Frugoli and Cacciapuoti roam freely and wreck havoc upfront.
Speaking to michezoafrika.com after the match ,Zizou couldn't hide his joy about his new role.
"I was so happy to play in front of the defenders. Before I was playing in the central midfielder but more offensive. but now I am like the brain of the team now. All the balls pass to me before distribution. My role model is Barcelona 's Xavi Hernandez and doing what he does on the pitch gives me great satisfaction. I am loving it.
"We missed one of our best strikers Rovini but from the word go we knew only a win will help us keep tab with pacesetters Juventus. We were all excited after collecting the three points.
Unlike Xavi Hernandez who is now 32,Thiongo is just in his teen years. He has time to prove that he can match up to his role model achievements.
