AFC Leopards midfielder Bernard Mang’oli and keeper Patrick Matasi have
been called up to join the national soccer team’s camp Harambee Stars
that is currently training at the Moi International training Center
Kasarani. The two players have been impressive in their team’s opening
fixture sin the Kenya Premier league.
Mang’oli was also in top
form when the Kenyan Under 23 youth team played in international
friendly matches against Senegal and Guinea earlier in the year.Mang’oli
scored one of AFC Leopards’ goals on Sunday when his team beat former
champions Mathare United 2-0 at the Nyayo stadium.
Confirming the
call up to michezoafrika.com, Stars head coach Francis Kimanzi said he
has been impressed by the performance of the two and would love to
observe them closely during training before naming his final squad that
will face Togo on 29th February 2012.
The national team camp has
also been affected by the absence of Tusker FC players who opted to take
an early trip to Western Kenya in preparation for their oncoming KPL
fixture against Western Stima on Wednesday. This left only one
goalkeeper in camp and as such the need to call in Matasi.
