Kenya has moved down two places in the latest FIFA Rankings released on February 15th.Kenya was ranked at position 121 in January but is now at position 123. The two friendlies against Senegal and Guinea were not considered in the computation.
Kenya’s next assignment is an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Togo in Nairobi on 29th February .An international friendly with Egypt was called off after Egypt’s Football governing body was disbanded following the deaths of more than 70 fans after stadium riots.
Under Kimanzi’s previous tenure, Kenya achieved her highest FIFA rank ever -68- on December 2008.The former Mathare United and current Sofapaka technical director is yet to match the same or surpass his achievement in his second stint as Stars coach.
2012 Africa Cup of Nations Champions Zambia has moved up to position 48 worldwide from 71 last January. This is still on the low end considering the country was ranked 20th world in 1996.
Despite losing in the final, Ivory Coast leads the CAF standings followed by Ghana. Algeria is third while the Chipolopolo are in fourth position.
Spain leads the world rankings. Germany and Netherlands have swapped positions. Germany is second while Netherlands moves a position down to third.
The next FIFA ranking release is set for 7th March.
