Ten man Targu Mures succumbed to their fourth season defeat after going down 2-1 to hosts Gaz Metan Medias at the Stadionul Municipal Stadium in a Romanian Liga 1 match played on Monday evening. The tension packed match saw center referee dish out nine yellow cards and one red.

After missing out the 1-0 win over Viitorul Constanta in the Romanian Cup on Thursday last week, Jamal ‘Malo’ Mohammed was back in Targu Mures starting XI and lasted the entire game.

Thaer Al Bawab opened the scoring with a well lobbed shot past Targu Mures keeper Septimiu Calin  in the fifth minute.

Razvan Paduretu would have leveled the score for Targu Mures but his bicycle kick flew over the bar in the 24th minute. The hosts keeper spilled a strong shot thus allowing Paduretu  to pounce on the ball.

Targu Mures surge forward in search of an equalizer gifted the hosts another goal in the 38th minute when Al Bawab beat the offside trap to score from close range after the visitors lost possession in the midfield.

A minute of madness in the 51st minute left Targu Mures one man down when the hard working Paduretu was red carded following a head butt on Jasmin Trtovac. The latter acrobatically fell down after a slight touch.

Keeper Septimiu Calin pulled two fantastic saves for Targu Mures in the last three minutes of normal regulation time before substitute Sergiu Bus late efforts were rewarded with a consolation goal in the 92nd minute.

Jamal Mohamed who had a conspicuous bandage on his face executed the last free kick for Targu Mures that was well dealt with by the opposition to end the match at 2-1, a result that leaves his club in in the relegation zone after amassing just 6 points in 8 matches.
