East African Breweries Limited on Tuesday evening unveiled a Ksh 110 Million sponsorship package for the National team Harambee Stars that will run for a period of three years.
The unveiling ceremony at Inter-Continental Hotel was graced by Prime Minister Raila Odinga,Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya,Sports assistant minister Kabando wa kabando and EABL Kenya CEO Baker Magunda among others.
Raila Odinga welcomed the sponsorship deal saying it will go along way in helping the national team.He also called on clubs to improve their performance as this will be reflected in the national team.
"Soccer is big business everywhere in the world.Kenyan clubs should strive to professionalize operations and improve performance to provide a feeder for Harambee Stars.Harambee Stars is a national heritage that should bring all Kenyans together.There needs to be good leadership so as to encourage more fans and investors" Said Odinga.
Sam Nyamweya while speaking on behalf of FKF said,
“This is a milestone for Harambee Stars. We will do everything to ensure our team heads to South Africa and that our partners get value for their money”
Harambee Stars begin her 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign next week when they host Togo in Nairobi.
