Strathmore University handball team resumed training two weeks ago in preparation for the 2nd leg of the Kenya Handball Federation League whose date is yet to be announced. The team finished 3rd in the previous season and their coach Peter Mwathi is optimistic that they will be going for a better result in the 2013 season.

“The 2012 season was good considering we are relatively new to the league but I hope we will be in the finals this time round. The team is strong and I know we shall have a good performance once the 2nd leg kicks off.”

However Mwathi was looking towards strengthening his goalkeeping department as the team moves forward, “I have a good goalkeeper but I will need to have around 3 in the team. So far I have two and will be scouting for one more.”

The team which trains at the Strathmore grounds in Makadara did not participate in the recently concluded East Africa University games due to exam commitments which affected all the teams that represent the University in various disciplines.
