The Kenya Handball Federation Nairobi Branch held their elections on Saturday with a majority of the officials retaining their posts. This came amidst protests from a section of individuals protesting the decision to bar them from the elections led by Andrew Watuha from Aga Khan.

The group acquired a court to stop the elections but according to Jack Ochieng the Secretary of the branch they were never served with the order.

John Ndonga remained as Chairman of the Nairobi branch with Maurice Ochieng being the Vice Chair. Jack Ochieng and Paul Pudo took the positions of Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively while Strathmore University coach Peter Mwathi was elected as Treasurer. Mwathi will be assisted by Charles Kisilu. Maxwell Zange was elected as fixture secretary with Caroline Kusa as his assistant.

There was a change in the committee members with Hellen Nzisa, Claudio Pudo and Grace Madegwa taking the slots.

According to Ochieng, the elections were peaceful and on the court injunction they had no reason to go against it, “we never saw anybody with a court injunction, we know the law and we have no reason to disobey it so we had the elections.”
