Kenya U-20 ladies through to regional handball finals

The Kenya under 20 ladies team blasted their way into the finals in the ongoing  Zone 5B East and Central Africa Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Moi International Sports Complex when they beat Uganda 24 -19

In the fast paced encounter, goalkeepers from both sides were kept  on their toes as each team launched attacks one after the other. Phoebe Akinyi the Kenyan goalkeeper stood out in the first half with a number of impressive saves. The half ended 11 –  7 in favor of the hosts.

The second half saw a more physical approach that saw Ugandan player Olivia Nanbaiya receive a red card after she was suspended three times.

Kenya’s captain Michelle Adhiambo will want the day to pass faster so she can forget her bad outing as she missed two penalties that were saved by the Ugandan goalkeeper.

Merlin Akinyi , Kenya’s pivot player had a sterling  outing scoring a total of 8 goals in the game. Kenya will head in the finals as favorites when they play Tanzania on Thursday.

In the second match of the day of the match Burundi beat Tanzania 21 - 17
