Kenya U-20 handball queens overcome Burundi

The Kenyan U-20 ladies handball team registered their second win in the ongoing East and Central African youth championship currently ongoing at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

The Kenyan girls overcame a complex Burundi team 30-24 in an entertaining match played ton Tuesday afternoon.

Jane Waithera’s six scores in the first half enabled a 11 – 10 half time lead.

The second half saw a much more physical game that had Kenya’s Winnie Otaya being red carded after being suspended three times. Captain Michelle Adhiambo also received two suspensions in the second period but was lucky to stay on and guide the team to 30 – 24 win over the Burundians.

Head coach Fareed Mohammed pointed out that the major issue he had at today’s match was in the match officiating but otherwise the team is motivated and waiting for the next game against Tanzania on Wednesday.
