Ulinzi handball team

The Kenya Defence Forces Handball Association will from Tuesday the 27th hold the CDF (Chief of Defence Forces) Bora Cup tournament that is meant to scout for talent for Ulinzi, the main Defence Forces handball team.

Speaking to michezoafrika.com Sammy Mwangangi the Assistant Secretary of the association said the tournament will be purely for those enlisted in the Forces and will be used as a feeder for Ulinzi,

“It is a compulsory tournament for those who serve in the forces and take part in handball. We expect around ten teams representing each of the ten Brigades in the country and those exemplary players will be shortlisted to join Ulinzi the main team from the Defence Forces. Even the players that are currently in Ulinzi will have to go back to their respective units and get a chance to prove themselves once more.”

However he clarified that the current Ulinzi squad will not be disbanded until the end of the 2012/2013 KDF Handball League. The tournament will take place at the Kabete Barracks along Waiyaki Way, Nairobi on Tuesday and Wednesday and then move to the Nyayo Handball Court on Thursday to the final day which is Friday.
