The Kenya Defence Forces Handball Association has called out for free and fair elections in the upcoming Kenya Handball Federation National elections slated for February 23rd through its assistant Secretary Sammy Mwangangi.

KDF is recognized as a branch on its own by the country’s handball governing body KHF and it will provide 4 of its members who will take place in the elections. Mwangangi further added that the people elected should have the interest of handball at heart in order to improve the standards of the game in the country.

“We would like to see the coming elections conducted in a professional manner and be free and fair for those eligible to vote. Those elected should be dedicated and strive to improve the level of the sport.”

Sub branches of the Kenya Handball Federation were given up to the 9th of February before the national elections could be conducted and according to Mwangangi, KDF has been through the process, “unlike other branches we do not have elections rather we have appointments due to the nature of our work (Disciplined Forces) so there is a body within our system that appoints the Chairman who in turn appoints his team so for us we are sorted.”
