Bright start for Kenya’s U-20 handball queens

The Kenyan U- 20 ladies’ handball team on Monday started their regional title chase campaign with a comfortable 26-20 win over Rwanda in their opening match of the East African championship at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani.

The Kenyan girls started really well but frequently fell to technical lapses that allowed the guests score easy points. However, the girls maintained the lead to for a 15-10 half time lead.

Kenya got an upper hand after a Rwandese player was shown matching orders for dangerous play.This was not received smoothly by the visitors who protested to invite tense moments.

The Kenyan captain Mitchell Adhiambo was inspirational in attack and also scored from the four penalties awarded to the Kenyan team.

Kenya will next play Burundi , Uganda and Tanzania. According to the team captain, Rwanda was the hardest hurdle of them all but their triumph has set a right mood for a good performance boosted by the home advantage.
