Black Mamba off to a winning start in Madaraka day Open tournament

Kaloleni based handball club Black Mamba started off on a winning note in the Madaraka day tournament that kicked off  on Madaraka Day after beating University side Strathmore 16 – 13 in what is seemingly brewing to be tough rivalry between the two clubs in the local handball scene.

The two teams had met in the Kenya Handball Federation League play-offs where Black Mamba had been victorious and even saw them in the finals where they were beaten by reigning champions Cereals. Earlier in the qualifying stages of the play-offs Strathmore had beaten Black Mamba.
 
In other matches played on Saturday, Eldoret Power beat another university side Multimedia 33 – 23 in pool A. Meanwhile in pool B, army men Gunners gunned down Kenya Polytechnic 19 – 16.

In the other pool A match, Thika road based Kenyatta University beat fellow students Mt. Kenya University 19-18.
