Kitengela Mbuni Runners Club

Kitengela Mbuni Runners is a local running group that provides its members with some of the best trail running experiences. It was founded in Kenya in 2015 and is located in Kitengela. Mbuni is the Swahili word for the Ostrich. The group named themselves as such because the Ostrich is closely related to the Kitengela environment. Kenya’s largest Ostrich farm (commercial), the Maasai Ostrich farm is located on the outskirts of Kitengela.

Where

The Kitengela Mbuni runners group exists to help the locals and especially ladies to adopt a healthier lifestyle through running. The group has managed to map out some of the most scenic places and wild running trails that can not be easily found in a busy environment like Nairobi. Some of the common routes include the Sinket Trail, that traverses the open, wild countryside north-west of Yukos, The Koroboi trail to the South, The Hilly Lukenya trail teeming with wildlife to the East, The Riverine Kinanie Trail, and the Syokimau- Eastern Bypass trail to the North.

When

The Kitengela Mbuni Runners Club has a weekly running schedule. They run every Saturday from 7.00am using different trails. One of the meeting points for these Saturdays’ morning runs is the Criflo Resort with its manmade Island. This particular resort is scenic in itself. It has a moat around it with elaborate well maintained lawns and a swimming pool that one can use to relax the body after hard work on the trail. Members are usually communicated to every week for information on the specific running venue and trail through the groups mailing list.
