Patrick Owidh lifts APA Nyanza golf tournament

Nairobi business man Patrick Owino won the second tournament of the year that was staged at the Nyanza Golf Club sponsored by APA Insurance Company.

Playing off handicap 27, the hard hitting Owino defeated a total of 72 golfers drawn from Kisii, Kakamega, Muthaiga and Mumias golf clubs. He posted 18 stablefold points in the first nine and 22 in the second to register a total of 40 points.

He was closely followed by Second placed Hillay Osodo from Nyanza. He posted 39 stablefold points by registering 20 in the first nine and 19 in the second nine. Third place went to Paul Otieno from Nyanza who posted 39 stablefold point, Otieno scored 20 in the first nine and 19 in the second but was beaten on countback by Osodo. Incoming Golf captain Tobby See took the fourth place. He posted 21 in the first nine and 18 in the second to bring a total of 39 stable points, he was defeated on countback by Otieno.

1st nine winners went to Mumia’s Anthony Allachu who posted 20 stablefold points, with 2nd nine winners being scooped by Deepak Sohalal with 21 points. Longest drive men slot went to Kisii’s Charles Aburi while the Ladies Captain Dr. Rosemary Obara took the ladies slot. Nearest to the pin went to Kisii’s Zachary Bichage, the tournament was dominated by golfers from the Nyanza block.
