Dismas Indiza begins Kenya open on a high

Thursday marked day one of the 44th edition of the Barclays Kenya Open golf championships as professional golfers from within and without the continent began their 4 days competition at the Muthaiga Golf Club.

However, it was a rough beginning for the Kenya golfers with only Dismas Indiza and Brian Njoroge finishing among the top ten players after playing round one. Denmarks’s Madsen Morten topped the table after registering 7 under par 64.

An 18 holes round 1 saw Indiza register a score of 4 under par 67. Hole one and hole 5 poised a challenge to the Kenyan after he scored a bogey in the two holes but it was a smooth run in the rest of the tackles with him scoring a couple of birdies in the 3rd, 8th 9th, 10th 11th and 14th holes.

Njoroge scored a two under par 68 with 5 birdies and 2 bogeys.

On the other hand, it was a slow start for defending champion and South African Michiel Bothma who closed the day with 3 over par 74 score with a total of 6 bogeys and 2 birdies.

The tournament continues today with Kenya’s Indiza preparing for his 2nd round tee off at one pm.
