Charania beats Indiza, Njoroge at the Rapid Golf Tour

Home professional Riz Charania made full use of his home course advantage to clinch the Rapid Tour golf title at the par 72 Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club course on Wednesday.
Charania who also doubles up as the chairman of the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) chairman shot one under par 71 during the final round of the Sh300, 000 tournament to beat Vet Lab’s Brian Njoroge and Mumias based Dismas Indiza by four shots.

  “My swing is good at the moment, and I am hitting the ball fairly well’’ said Charania who added that “the new tour was good for the local pros as it is taking them to right direction’’

 Njoroge and Indiza took home Sh37,000 while the winner Charania went home with Sh72,000. Finishing a shot further behind was Muthaiga’s Frank Matilo shot one under par 71 for 218.

A total of 16 players made the second round cut out of the earlier field of 32 players. Tournament director Charan Thethy thanked the various sponsors who supported the event.

This week’s tournament had attracted the sponsorship of Kuscco Limited, Heri Heights, Tribe Hotel, Star Times and Pepsi which enabled the Rapid Golf Tour(RGT)not only sponsor the pro event but also yesterday’s club-nite at Windsor.
