Windsor Golf & Country club will play host to the amateur golfers in the on-going Barclays Golf circuit series scheduled this Saturday 12th January 2013. The ninth qualifying event will host over 200 golfers to the 18-hole course.

The Windsor tournament follows the successful premier of the circuit series in Sigona and Nyanza last weekend where home players Samuel Kanja of Sigona and Prasant Thakrar of Nyanza Club emerge the ultimate winners.

Kanja and Thakrar earned themselves qualifications to the grand finale of the Barclays Golf Circuit slated for 2nd February 2013 at the Karen Country Golf Club. The two amateur players beat a field of 77 and over 120 players in Nyanza and Sigona Clubs respectively to become the undisputed winners of the day.

While speaking ahead of the highly anticipated Saturday’s action, Windsor Golf Club Captain Mike Macharia said: “The course is in a fantastic condition thanks to our green keeper who has been working tirelessly to get the course into shape for the Barclays event. As we all know, the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club is widely celebrated for its captivating blend of world-class championship golf with the more down-to-Earth delights of Africa’s natural heritage.”

He added that the club greens are renowned for being fast and true, with intricate challenges offered by 73 bunkers, and lakes and streams bringing water into play on nine separate holes. Two of the greens are completely ringed by water, adding an exhilarating test for both local and visiting golfers.

The Circuit will offer top 20 winners at the finale slots to play in the Barclays Kenya Open Pro Am 2013.The pro-am is a dream for any amateur Golfer where they get an opportunity to play with mainly top European professionals who grace the Barclays Kenya Open. Courtesy of Barclays Hospitality, they will also get season tickets and VIP guest passes to the Barclays Hospitality Tent at the 2013 Barclays Kenya Open.

Mr. Macharia concluded that the club has already registered over 200 players including junior players who are upbeat about the tourney to perfect their golfing skills.

“I am happy on the number of registered players who will take part in the Saturday’s tourney. I am delighted that the club is among the hosting clubs for this series and I must laud Barclays for supporting our players to perfect their golfing skills. The game will start very early to with golfers teeing off from 6.30am”

Barclays Kenya in partnership with Kenya Golf Union and participating Clubs will continue to raise resources throughout the circuit that will go towards supporting charitable initiatives that enhance the livelihoods of communities through financial literacy, enterprise skills and life skills.
