Aburi overcomes 67 to win Nyanza golf

Charles Aburi beat a field of 67 golfers drawn from Nairobi, Kisii, Mumias, Kericho, Nakuru, Thika, Kakamega and Nandi to emerge the overall gross winner of Hippo Pot golf Championship that was staged at the Nyanza golf club in the past weekend.

Aburi who was playing handicap 8 scored a total 143 meddle points in the tournament that was witnessed by several golfers.

Net overall winner was George Gatimu playing handicap 5 who managed 138 meddle points, Saturday gross winner was Joseph Matoya playing off handicap 2 and who managed 71 meddle points, while Gross runner up was George Felix playing off handicap 5 and who managed 72 meddle points.

Saturday Net winner was Maurice Otieno who was playing handicap 8 who managed 67 points while gross runner up was Dave Karia who was playing handicap 14 and who posted 67 points.

Saturday gross winner was Maurice Omondi playing off handicap 1 and he managed 71 meddle points, while the Sunday runner up was S. Onduga who was playing handicap 2 and who also managed 71 meddle points.

Sunday net winner was George Ouma who was playing handicap 10 and he managed 67, followed by Z. Juma with handicap 9 who managed 69.

Subsidiary winner was Dr. Rosemary Obara who was playing handicap 15 and who managed 41 meddle points while in the second was Hillary Osodo playing off handicap 18 and who managed 35 points, Jitten Pabari was a distance third with 32 points playing 11 handicap.
