President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned Kenya soccer managers to end the destructive squabbles witnessed in the recent past for the sake of soccer growth in the country. Kenyatta was speaking on Thursday when he hosted GOTV Shield Cup Champions Sofapaka FC at the State House in Nairobi.

During the ceremony, president Uhuru presented the team with a one Million shillings prize and urged the Federation in charge of sports to put the talent development as a first priority.

Also speaking during the ceremony, Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario told off the national soccer Federation FKF that KPL is here to stay. FKF had earlier in the week announced that they would like to change the name of the Kenyan Premier League to FKF Premier League in the 2015 season.

Sofapaka won the GOTV Shield Cup after  beating recently promoted Rangers FC 2-1 in the finals at Afraha stadium and will now represent Kenya in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup.
