Ligi Ndogo coach Oliver Page has blamed inexperience for his team’s loss against AFC Leopards on Sunday as they fell 2-0 in the GOTV Shield Cup last sixteen stage.

Page noted that his team  - mostly comprising of players Under 20 years  - put up a brave performance especially in the first half where they contained the defending champions going to the break on an even score line (0-0).

“I have a very young team and I must commend them for their performance. It was a tough match but my players lost mostly because of inexperience. Look at both the goals we conceded for example, those were moments we could have avoided. When the first goal came , we allowed them to build up for the second and that was the moment that finished  our hopes.” He said.

Talking of the red card on AFC Leopards striker Jacob Keli whose dangerous tackle handed Brilliant a nasty injury in the face, Page said the referee did what he had to do after judging the extent of the injury on the player, “To me it was an accident which is normal and happens in sports. In my opinion it was between a yellow card and a red card but I guess the referee decided to give a red card after seeing how bad the injury was especially because my player was bleeding profusely.”
