Kisii derby pitting Shabana   FC against Borabu Chiefs will highlight the former FKF cup that will now be called the GOtv shield Cup. The Cup’s draw was held on Friday in Nairobi involving 32 teams   that will play in the knock stage.

The tournament starts on the 27th of July and the finals expected on the traditional 20th of October. This is the former FKF Cup whose name changed after it secured KSh6million sponsorship from pay TV provider GOtv.

The Top four teams from Last year's tournament; Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Tusker and Sofapaka will be seeded. Winners of the 16 matches will qualify for the second round of the tournament where they will join the 16 KPL Teams.

Division One side Nakumatt FC will host Mulembe, Internationale will host Wazee wa Kazi and Division One side Comply host Provincial League side UON.

St. Josephs will travel away to play Zoo Kericho, Top Fry AllStars visit FC Talanta while County side InterCity will travel to play Ulinzi Warriors.

Muhoroni Young will host Black Mamba, Gatundu Stars host Bidco United, and Nzoia United host Mount Kenya United.

MOYAS will face off with Ligi Ndogo, Kisero Hunters face off with Hotspring and Agrochemicals host K.R.A.

Kariobangi Sharks will host GFC105, Finlays host Nairobi Stima, while KNH will play at home to West Kenya Sugar.

 The winner of the cup will take home ksh 2M, first runners will take home Ksh 750,000, with third and fourth places taking home 500,000 and 250,000 respectively.

Football Kenya federation president  Sam Nyamweya said this is a historic partnership between two popular passions saying it will go a long way in developing the sport in the country.

 “The first of its kind sponsorship to one of the oldest cup is a good gesture to the development of football in the country. We welcome the move where by clubs will be the biggest winners in the process.” He said.

GOtv general manager Felix Kyengo said the company objective has always been promoting local content therefore the partnership proves their commitment.

“We are determined to promote football in the country .Through the act many will be able to watch their club play live on TV  therefore promoting local content. We are seeking to working together for a long period of time.” He said.
