The chaos witnessed on Sunday evening at the City stadium when AFC Leopards’ fans protested their team’s defeat to Sofapaka in the GOTV Shield Cup semifinals left a huge trail of damages to property and injuries to fans and match officials.

Trouble started when the defending Cup Champions AFC Leopards conceded their second goal in the 86th minute with Anthony Ndolo connecting on a cross to double the lead. Enock Agwanda scored the opening goal.

Police were forced to fire tear gas canisters to disperse the angry crowds with some fans being injured in the melee as everyone scampered for safety.

A section of the fans then diverted their anger to property at the City stadium with Sofapaka team bus and James Situma’s car being heavily smashed.

“There is extensive damage to my car, the windscreen is totally smashed.” Situma confirmed.

FKF is yet to issue a statement on the chaos but it is expected that Sofapaka will be awarded the match and will proceed to play Lower division side Rangers FC who also qualified for the finals after defeating West Kenya in the first semifinal match at the same venue on Sunday.
