Michezo Afrika Sports Academy officially launched

The Michezo Afrika team on Saturday 6th September officially launched the Michezo Afrika Academy by holding the first youth soccer training session at the Sports Academy in Bungoma. The first session (soccer) included a selected team of U-11 boys.

The training Sessions will be held twice every week on Saturday Morning and Sunday afternoon with soccer being the first sport among the four sports lined up for training at the sports training facility located 3 Kilometers from Bungoma town.

Others Sports expected to benefit from the training at the academy include Lawn Tennis,Basketball and Volleyball, sports which have been known to have a rich pool of talents from this region. The academy is also expected to launch Table tennis and other board games.

According to the academy Director Walter Machio:  “This has been a long journey and we want to thank everyone who has been part of it. We expect to admit 100 talented children in our first term which runs from September – November 2014.”

“We have the capacity to fully and comfortably accommodate 32 players in our cabins on full board. We will also be holding our first ever sports camp in April 2015 and we look forward to contributing to the growth of sports in the country. ” He adds.
