Nepal continued its bright run when it dismissed a shell shocked Kenyan side in the semi-final of the seventh place of Twenty20 qualifiers in Dubai on Thursday afternoon.

Kenya won the toss and elected bat only for the brilliant Nepalese to restrict them to a paltry 139 for four wickets. Captain Cillons Obuya hit an impressive 52 off 42 balls, the only notable score for the local lads.

Nehemiah Odhiambo hit a measly four runs before he was caught by Paras Kadhka, James Ngoche got two runs before he was bowled by Baskota.

Basanta Regmi took 3 wickets for 23 ball for Nepal, while Shakti Gauchan conceded only 19 runs in 4 overs. Nepal's openers gave the chase a steady start, adding 64 runs in 10 overs and their captain Paras Khadka remained unbeaten with 26 runs to secure the victory. Nepal's chase was aided by 17 extras.

Kenya now exits the qualifier in unfamiliar position and a pale shadow of the indominatable side that reached the World Cup semis nine years ago in south Africa. They lack big hitters in the mould of the disgraced Maurice Odumbe and spinners like Asif Karim and steve Tikolo.
