Caerphilly Castle Ladies, a Welsh women’s football team were beaten 43-0 by Cardiff Metro University in a women’s Welsh Premier League game.

It is not the first time that the Caerphilly based side has received such a huge margin as they have conceded a whooping 219 goals in just 10 games while scoring once in the process. The team has landed an embarrassing score lines of 36-0, 28-0 and 26-0 in their previous matches.

However, the poor results have not deterred the team who were weakened by the departure of several first team players to their rival team, Cwmbran FC.

However, Julie Boyce, the club’s chairwoman (who has come out of retirement to strengthen the side of reserves and youth players) said the team would come back stronger in the near future.

She said: "We're putting a brave face on things, but yes it's tough, and if it went on indefinitely, it would threaten the future of the club. But we're about more than the first team."

The Castle, as they are fondly referred to, finished mid-table in the last two Welsh Premier League seasons, and in 2010 lifted the Welsh League Cup.
