Van Persie hat trick guides Man United to 20th title

Robin Van Persie required only 82 seconds to put Manchester United 1-0 up in their Barclays Premier League match against relegation threatened Aston Villa on Monday evening at the Old Trafford.

The sweet victory ensured Manchester United lifted the EPL glory for the 20th time. The Sir Alex Fergusson team has won the English Premier League 5 times in 7 seasons with Chelsea and Man City the only teams breaking their streak.

Against Villa, it all started with Wayne Rooney’s long pass from the center of the field to Valencia in the right wing who in turn laid back the pass to right back Rafael, with the Brazilian managing to pick out Ryan Giggs at the left flank and the 39 year old did well placing the ball squarely for Van Persie who was on front of goal to tap in his 26th goal of the season.

The “Flying Dutchman” was at it again in the 13th minute with Rooney in the mix of things once more where he made another long pass to Van Persie and the striker scored superbly with a one touch strike that only left the  Aston Villa keeper Bradley Guzan in awe.

Van Persie scored his 3rd goal in the 32rd minute after a blunder by the Aston Villa defence that has been shaky all season long.

Van Persie was appearing against Aston Villa for the 11th time since he began his career in the EPL and over the duration he scored 8 goals against the side.

Although United have bagged the league, Sir Alex Ferguson will not let his side relax as they still have 5 league games which includes meeting Arsenal over the weekend at the Emirates. Ferguson had stated that he wants his team to set another record that is winning the league with 96 points at the end of it all, beating Chelsea’s record of 95 points when under Jose Mourinho’s reign.
