Manchester United send coaching duo packing

Manchester United has sacked assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeper coach Steele. The duo are axed following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson and the incoming boss David  Moyes is expected to bring in his own workforce especially from Everton.

The two joined United in 2008 and have been instrumental in the success of Manchester United.  Phelan replaced Carlos Quieroz as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant and has helped the club secure three Premier League titles, two Capital One Cups and a Club World Cup in his time on the Old Trafford staff.

Steele who was the former Manchester City and Blackburn coach worked closely with United number one David De Gea since he joined United from Atletico Madrid and has been credited with De Gea’s good performance.

During his resignation Ferguson promised not to guarantee any staff member a future at Old Trafford and this has been fulfilled.
