Liberia head coach sacked

Updated on 22/02/12  |    By PAUL MURIUNGI

The Lone Star Head Coach Roberto Landi has been sacked, according to a statement from Liberia Football Association president Musa Bility. The Italian coach was shown the door following poor results that has seen them win just two games out of eight.

Landi’s sacking comes just a week before the Lone Star starts its Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign. Liberia is supposed to play Namibia on the 29th of February in Monrovia.

Musa Bility did not give a reason for Landi’s sacking though it’s understood the Italian’s loss to under strength Super Eagles of Nigeria last week in a friendly in Monrovia was the final nail in the coffin.

Thomas Kojo has been appointed as an interim coach/caretaker for the first round first leg Africa Cup of Nations against the Brave Warriors of Namibia on Wednesday.
