Polish striker Robert Lewandowski scored four goals against Real Madrid in the 1st leg of the Champions League semi final on Wednesday evening as Borussia Dortmund beat Real 4-1 at home to set up the possibility of an all German final.

Lewandowski scored in the 8th, 50th, 55th and a 66th minute penalty to dip the chances of Jose Mourinho’s side advancing to the finals. He is the only player who has ever scored a hat trick against Real Madrid in the history of the Champions league and at the same time joins the list of 10 players to score four goals in a single match in Europe’s top football competition.

Real Madrid’s consolation goal came in the 45th minute through Christiano Ronaldo. In what was expected to be an all Spanish final, pundits have been left with a lot to ponder on as the other semi final match played on Tuesday saw Bayern Munich also from the Bundesliga crush Barcelona 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.
