Ethiopian FA sacks Secretary General over inelligible player

The Ethiopian Football Federation sacked its general secretary on Monday after the African nation admitted fielding an ineligible player in a World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The move which is likely to cost the team three points leads to the sacking of Ashenafi Ejigu with the majority insisting the whole governing body to be sacked.

The federation’s president Sahilu Gebremariam requested for time until September to finish on the upcoming duties and thereafter submit his resignation latter.

The Walya antelopes are on top of group A with 13 points and if docked three points they will be ahead of South Africa with two points with each having a game to play.
