Ivory Coast captain Didier Drogba and his aging compatriots have one more chance of representing their nation and win the African Cup of Nation’s trophy. This is after they were defeated by Zambia’s Chipolopolo on post match penalties after a 0-0 stalemate in a dramatic 120 minutes in Libreville on Sunday.
The chance comes after CAF announced that the competition has been moved from even to odd years. The next edition will be held in South Africa in 2013.
"If they still have the motivation they can still play an important role for the team," said Coach Francois Zahoui. "But these are decisions not to be made now."
Drogba, Kolo Toure and Didier Zokora are all above 30 years and Didier Zokora had said earlier that if they won he would consider retirement from national squad.
Ivory Coast has a tough start with Morocco in their group.
