Croatia and Portugal fold fists for highly anticipated friendly

Croatia takes on Portugal tonight at the Stade De Deneve in an international friendly match which both teams will be using to prepare for their 2014 World Cup Qualifying matches. Portugal leads Group F with 14 points and they will be looking to sharpen their claws as they seek to earn a slot in the world cup in a group that also Russia, Israel, Northern Ireland, Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.

Croatia is second in group A alongside Belgium, Macedonia, Scotland, Serbia and Wales. Belgium is on top of the group with 19 points. The winner of these group stages will proceed directly to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

In other friendly matches played last night, former world greats Brazil broke their jinx against France after beating them 3-0, the first victory Samba has had over Les Bleus since 1992. Oscar, Hernanes and Lucas were on point to give Samba the sweet 3-0 win.

Brazil, ended a six-match, 21-year winless run against France, and had gone into the game under enormous pressure after only one win in six outings since Scolari returned for a second stint in the job last November.

European Champions Spain were also 2-1winners over Haiti in another build up match. Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla opened the scores in the 8th minute before Cesc Fabregas doubled the lead with a header six yards out.
