Eritrea has pulled out of the 2011 CECAFA Senior Challenge cup and in her place Kenya's World Cup Group F opponents Namibia has been slotted in. This was announced by CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye during a press briefing at Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday.
The tournament kicks off on November 25th and ends on December 10th.The pools have been redrawn to accommodate the new changes. Namibia is in pool A while Ethiopia will replace Eritrea in Group C.The first matches will be played on Friday 25th November (Burundi vs Somalia and Uganda vs Zanzibar).
Malawi rescinded its earlier decision to withdraw from the tournament after government assurance on funds. Kenya will open her Group C campaign on 28th against The Flames of Malawi at the National Stadium.
The top two teams and the best two qualifiers from all the three groups qualify to the quarter finals while will be played on December 5th and 6th.Semis will take place on December 8th.KBC And SuperSport will air the matches live.
