Updated on 22/11/11  |    By MICHEZOAFRIKA STAFF

All 17 referees appointed to officiate in this year's CECAFA Tusker Challenge cup are expected to attend a Cooper test at National Stadium in Dar e Saalam on Wednesday. The FIFA sanctioned test aims at assessing the referees’ competence ahead of the tournament.

The test assesses the physical conditions of the referees as well as theorical knowledge.

Kenyan referee Davis Omweno has been picked to officiate in the tournament. Brazan Mamati and David Sagero both from Kenya will be assistant referees in some of the 26 matches.

FIFA was to conduct the same test on Kenyan Premier League referees last September but the process was postponed indefinitely.

Last year the only Kenyan referee invited for the tournament Thomas Onyango failed the test.In 2009, Kenya Premier League(KPL) referee of the year 2008 Gedion Amwayi  was among the 29 referees failed the Cooper test at Kasarani.
