Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) basketball team head coach Anthony Ojukwu has said his teams - both the men and women- are fired up for the coming season that starts on Saturday across the country.

Ojukwu, while speaking from Mombasa, says they target to retain the men’s title while the women team is seeking to reclaim their glory after losing to USIU Flames in the finals last season.

The experienced tactician has however warned against underrating new comers Equity who they face on Saturday afternoon at their backyard saying that, “It is a team we respect because they have a lot of experienced players in their squad. We cannot underrate them but again we do not fear them.” He said.

This will be the first Premier League assignment for the Equity women’s team that earned promotion at the end of last season.

Though they are new to the top league, the team boasts of massive experience in their line up with former Eagle Wings Star Samba Mjomba,  last season’s most Valuable player Hilda Indasi, former Strathmore  player Denise Apondi and immediate former Champion with USIU Flames Linda Mfuchi among those expected to feature for the debutants.
