Nairobi City won their 2nd match at the East and Central inter-cities basketball tournament hosted in Kampala, Uganda when they beat Mukono at a close 73-67 on Wednesday afternoon.

Mukono overcame the only Kenyan representatives at the tournament in the 1st quarter the scores being 9-10 but in the 2nd Nairobi upped their game and took the quarter with a convincing 23-16 win.

The 3rd quarter saw coach Silvia Kamau’s side get 23 points yet again while Mukono sunk in 19 points. It was in the last quarter that Mukono which is representing Uganda gave Nairobi a scare as they sunk in 22 points against the visitors 18 points. With 3 seconds to go the scores were at 70-67 but a last desperate 3 pointer shot by Strathmore Sword’s Grace Wanjiku gave the Defending Champions a sigh of relief as they took the day.

USIU’s Hilda Indasi gave Nairobi 18 points while Maureen Amoding gave Mukono an impressive 29 points the highest in the match. Purity Auma who is a Kenyan but was turning out for Mukono had 13 points in the match that was tight all through.
