KUSA Weekend Basketball round up

USIU Tigers maintained their perfect run in the KUSA Basketball league winning two games against Daystar and Mount Kenya University. The Tigers propelled by Evans Leting beat Daystar 67-27 in a one sided game on Saturday and wrapped it up with a 54-28 win over MKU.

Leting nailed 17 and 20 points in both games respectively. Earlier, Strathmore Blades beat CUEA 50-38 to tie with USIU at the top of the league with 21 points each. Arthur Ameso powered Blades in the Sunday win with a game high of 15 points while Sam Wokabi buried 11 points.

In the ladies category, USIU Flames still tops the league after an easy 41-25 win over Kenyatta University’s Oryx. Flames’ were led by Manny Ndayikungu with 19 points while Janu Rumbaing relied for the Oryx with 12 points.

Strathmore Swords stretched their unbeaten run in the second leg of the league with a cool 45-28 win over CUEA. Mellisa Akinyi bagged 15 points for Swords while no CUEA player hit the doubles mark.

Other ladies matches played over the weekend saw Swords thrash KU Oryx 45-28 while USIU Flames whipped Daystar ladies 41-28 to cement their stay at the summer of the league while in the men’s category, JKUAT proved too powerful for MKU scorching them 71-33. MKU were on the receiving end again CUEA losing 67-56 in an evenly contested affair.
