USIU on Tuesday roared their supremacy in University basketball after lifting both the women and men’s titles in the finals of the 2011 Inter Universities championship at the KCB Sports club basketball court.

In the women’s finals, USIU rekindled their KBF league rivalry against Strathmore University with the Flames inflicting an eight points defeat on their rivals -The Swords- in a hotly contested match that ended 48-40 in favor of USIU.

Hilda Indiasi led USIU’s assault with a maximum of 14 points “Strathmore is a good side but we just had to win today. Having finished the KBF league without any trophies, this was a must win for us and we are excited to have taken home the title. But it was a tight match.” Said Hilda after the match.

Strathmore coach Sylvia Kamau accepted defeat and said “ It was a tight match. What can we say, we lost and that is sports, you accept defeat and soldier on by rectifying where you went wrong”.

In the men’s finals. It was a fierce battle between USIU and Kenyatta University but in the end USIU proved superior and took home the triumph with a 70-64 win after an entertaining tension packed final match.
