Kenya’s Eagle Wings basketball team successfully defended their regional zone 5 basketball title after emerging tops in the just concluded competition held in Burundi this week.

As expected, it was an all Kenyan affair in the finals with the top two women teams (Eagle Wings and USIU) meeting in a hotly contested Kenyan derby.

Angela Okoth was the star of the day for Eagle Wings as her 17 points in the match guided the Kenyan champions to a slim 67-62 win over last year’s premier league runners up USIU Flames.

In the men’s edition, Urunani from Burundi won the title after defeating defending Champions ESPOIR BBC from Rwanda 65 – 56.

Urunani and Eagle Wings have qualified to represent the region in the FIBA Africa basketball competition.
